Sandy Fleming

Sandy Fleming is one of Our Father’s Family Keeper Ministry’s most endeared volunteers, faithfully having served our youth at our past Tuesday evening after-school tutorials.                                                                                     She is an educational consultant from Edwardsburg, Michigan, a master’s level special education teacher with experience and expertise in teaching remedial literacy and math as well as assisting students with study skills, test-taking skills and more. She holds her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Mild Mental Retardation as well as her Master’s Degree in all levels of Cognitive Impairment and Learning Disabilities. Sandy has a year of substitute teaching experience and six years of classroom experience in Indiana’s Elkhart Community School District and has worked for more than 30 years as a private tutor, author and regional workshop presenter.

She currently tutors a range of students, from first grade through adulthood; writes standardized test questions; reading passages for instruction and assessment; lesson plans and other instructional materials; and facilitates assorted workshops to help parents and child-care providers improve their skills for working with children. She also writes grants, develops websites, and manages social media for an array of local small businesses and nonprofit organizations.      Her books — available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Teachers Pay Teachers.com — provide instructional materials and resources to parents, teachers and homeschoolers.

Sandy is also very engaged in her community, as a volunteer training facilitator and mentor for the local Girl Scout Council, as well as an event leader and planner. She has led troops and organized adults in Girl Scouting for the past 25 years.  She is active in her church, leading classes, writing curriculum and supporting outreach programs for community members.  She loves spending time at home with her husband, keeping up with the lives of her three grown daughters ~ a psychologist, a chemical engineer and an animal scientist~  caring for the family pets and spending time on the internet.
