Did You Know? Marcellus Has a Free Store!

We were very excited to hear from Bree Broecker when she announced the opening of the Marcellus Free Store. The store is located at 105 West Main Street in Marcellus, Michigan, and is open Wednesdays 9-11 AM and Sundays, 9 AM to noon.

The store has clothing, shoes, toys, and even non-perishable food! What an asset to the community! They plan to have summer fun equipment like bikes for kids in the coming months, and swap out their offerings weekly.

Donations are always welcome, and can be brought to the store during the scheduled hours, or if you contact them, you can make an appointment to drop off items.

If you’d like more information or want to reach Bree, you can find her on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100009565801088. Let’s all support this great venture!

Let’s Talk About Child Care!

Happy baby

In case you hadn’t heard, Cass County is very much in need of more high-quality child care programs. The Rural Child Care Innovation Program is hosting a Town Hall discussion about child care options in the area on Thursday, September 15 at 6:30-8 PM in Mathews Hall at the SMC Dowagiac campus. All who have a stake in the discussion are invited: care providers, parents and grandparents, community members, and more.

We really need the entire community to be represented at this discussion about successes, gaps, and challenges for child care in the area. Please come! Dinner will be served, and the event is free.
